This evening, poet and audio personality Pejk Malinovski and professor of American literature Daniel Kane talk about their engagement with the words and world of artist and writer Joe Brainard.
Pejk Malinovski presents one of his latest radio programs 'I Remember Joe Brainard', and Daniel Kane talks about his book 'Love Joe', a collection of Brainard's letters.
Pejk Malinovski
Pejk Malinovski is a poet, documentarian and sound artist, his programs have been broadcast on NPR, BBC, Danmarks Radio and other radio stations worldwide, his sound installations and audiowalks have been shown in galleries and museums. They have won awards at festivals such as Prix Europa, Sheffield International Doc festival and Third Coast International Audio Festival. Malinovski was also the co-founder and host of Third Ear, Denmark's first and most successful podcast for audio storytelling. In addition, he is a publisher, editor and translator at Forlaget Basilisk.
Daniel Kane
Daniel Kane is the editor of the recently published book Love, Joe: The Selected Letters of Joe Brainard. His publications include All Poets Welcome: the Lower East Side Poetry Scene in the 1960s (2003), We Saw the Light: Conversations between the New American Cinema and Poetry (2009), and Do You Have a Band? Poetry and Punk Rock in New York City (2017). He lives in Copenhagen and teaches American literature at Uppsala University in Sweden.
Pejk Malinovski will speak Danish, while the radio portrait and Daniel Kane's presentation will be in English.
