Candombe DK: Memory in Rhythm ¦ Cph Jazz Festival

An intimate, groove-driven night of jazz, candombe, and African-inspired sound.

Candombe DK returns to Union and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival with a special quartet exploring the living connection between Candombe and its African roots. Joined this time by a Danish guitarist with studies in South Africa, the music moves between tradition and exploration — where rhythm carries memory across continents and into the present.

Prepare for a meeting of traditions, rhythm, and contemporary jazz expression.

About candombe

Candombe is a South American culture that originally originated in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is primarily related to drumming and has played a significant role in the culture of the Río de la Plata for the last two hundred years, and has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
