Hilal Kaya ¦ Vinterjazz in Union

Danish-Turkish vocalist Hilal Kaya has made a name for herself as a dynamic live performer and through her collaborations with the acclaimed Danish supergroup Kalaha and the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Together they have created music that has been nominated for several jazz and roots awards.

In September 2024, she released her first single, Perişan, and is heading into the studio in January to complete her upcoming album, which will be released in 2025. Hilal Kaya brings her distinctive voice together with the broad musical backgrounds of her band members, giving her music a deep and versatile character.

With her on stage is Orhan Özgür Turan (Sorten Muld, Ipek Yolu), who, with his oud and bağlama, adds a touch of Anatolian spice. Søren Bigum (Peter Sommer, Jonah Blacksmith) creates an impressive atmosphere, and Henrik Poulsen (Peter Sommer) and Søren Poulsen (Peter Sommer, Jonah Blacksmith) complete the group's unique sound with their experience and wide musical range.

Hilal has performed with Kalaha and Aarhus Jazz Orchestra on the most iconic stages in Denmark, and now she is ready to begin a whole new and powerful journey with her strong new orchestra.

Vinterjazz in Union

The concert program in Union is part of the nationwide music festival Vinterjazz on 30 January - 23 February 2025. In Union, we invite you to a range of exciting jazz concerts, each of which in their own way reflects Union's eclectic cultural programme. In other words, you should not expect traditional jazz, but rather a journey to the global roots of jazz.

The doors open at 19:00. The concert starts at 20:00.
